BEAT DOWN SATURDAY shares a remix from one of today’s masters of the re-work. He’s put his magic touch on tracks by JUSTICE, MGMT, SEBASTIAN, KLAXONS, HOT CHIP, MYSTERY JETS, BLOC PARTY, DAFT PUNK, and AUSTRALIAS own TAME IMPALA amongst others. I am of course speaking of club night TRASH founder EROL ALKAN. The man with the golden touch puts his print all over a track from METRONOMY’s latest album THE ENGLISH RIVIERA released earlier this year.
Lots of reviewers were saying that THE ENGLISH RIVIERA is METRONOMY’s best work to date, yet they were only giving them 3 out of 5 stars, or records, or pumpkins or whatever other naff gimmicky symbol they could think up. Is this a poor reflection on the bands previous work, or is 3 out of 5 leprechauns considered good?
But anyway, that’s a different story.
EROL doesn’t seem to change the track up too much with this one, he strips it back a little, gets the bass slapping a little harder and rearranges it slightly. This track should get your foot tapping, hips shaking and head bouncing with it’s sleek/ catchy bass line driven bop, cool harmonies and simple lyrics. I think it’s a winner.
