FUZZY announced the PARKLIFE 2011 line-up earlier this morning through the usual outlets, and it’s a pretty darn big line-up at that. Covering the genre’s of ELECTRO, DISCO, POP, PUNK, and a whole lot of DUBSTEP – arguably the most influential DUBSTEP to appear on an AUSTRALIAN festival line-up ever including super group MAGNETIC MAN, NERO, JOKER and FLUX PAVILLION.
Magnetic Man |
The FUZZY crew definitely know how to give the kids what they want. The usual haters are saying shit like “so they’ve gone from the cheesiest electrohouse acts to the cheesiest dubstep acts this year,” which is a fair comment in some respects, but most people would just prefer you to shut your mouth and go back to the psy-trance bush doof happening somewhere out in the Nimbin bushlands.
Here’s the Lineup: DIGITALISM, MYLO, LITTLE DRAGON, MSTRKRFT, SEBASTIAN, EXAMPLE, KATY B, GOSSIP, LYKKE LI, SANTIGOLD, DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979, DUCK SAUCE, NAKED AND FAMOUS, ADRIAN LUX, SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO, MAGNETIC MAN, NERO, DIPLO, CRYSTAL FIGHTERS, SEBASTIAN TELLIER, FEED ME, KIMBRA, WOLFGANG GARTNER, THE ASHTON SHUFFLE, JOKER & MC NOMAD, THE STREETS, TENSNAKE, HARVARD BASS, FLUX PAVILLION, STRANGE TALK and YACHT CLUB DJ’S plus a heap of local acts.
There are a lot of highlights on the list, and quite a diverse bunch as well, click on the red names to check out some music from some of my favourites.
Death From Above 1979 |
Check out DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 playing live at COACHELLA 2011 below. The clip proves that it is hard to be a drummer as well as a lead singer, it’s hard to form a decent song melody with just a bass guitar, it’s hard to create a live spectacle with just two people on stage, and it’s hard to look good when you’re all sweaty wearing a tight pair of white pants.
